The Kanchenjunga region is one of the most beautiful areas in the country with spectacular landscape; Himalayan peaks rising above 7,000 m and lush flora and fauna. This region was opened for trekking tourism only in 1988. The trekking in this area is relatively strenuous since the region is regarded as the most remote place of Nepal. The Sherpas inhabit the northern part of the Kanchenjunga region whereas the southern lower part is full of the ethnic groups such as Rai, Limbus, Magars, Tamangs, Brahmans and Chhetris.
